Fred Osborn III only visited Garrison before he became a resident in 1987, but his family has played an important role in our community since before the Civil War. Indeed, most of the land that today makes up the Osborn Preserve of the Hudson Highlands State Park was donated by members of the Osborn family, beginning in the years immediately after World War II. Fred was one of the founding members of the HHLT Board when it was created in 1989. 7q Much of the land around here is just achingly beautiful, and I believe that there are few things that are as important as preserving it for future generations," he says. "I am very proud to be a part of HHLT because it plays such an effective role in achieving that goal. I see it as a guarantor that our grandchildren will keep enjoying the same scenery that dazzled our great-great grandparents 150 years ago."
