HHLT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 1989 under Section 402 of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law of New York.

We were among the first 39 land trusts in the United States to receive accredited status through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. The accreditation seal is a mark of distinction in land conservation. It recognizes organizations for meeting national standards for excellence, upholding the public trust and ensuring that conservation efforts are permanent.

We have earned a Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar. We are also an approved nonprofit partner of 1% for the Planet.

A Delicate Balance

Less than 50 miles north of New York City, the Hudson Highlands region is rich in scenic beauty, wildlife habitat, and recreation opportunities. HHLT works to protect biodiversity and natural resources, address climate change, and create opportunities for people to experience the benefits of being in nature.
