Our work depends on strong partnerships with private landowners, other conservation organizations, government agencies, municipalities and local community groups.
At HHLT, we work to protect and preserve the Hudson Highlands through land conservation and community engagement. Every piece of land that we conserve means less carbon in the air we breathe, healthier soil for our crops and cleaner water from our taps. And well-managed lands also preserve vital habitats for plants and wildlife.
Through our Land Conservation and Stewardship program, we work with private landowners on real estate transactions including conservation agreements that limit future development, the outright purchase of land, and the facilitation of land acquisitions by state and local agencies.
We partner with local municipalities and regional planners on creating natural resource and open space inventories to guide a thoughtful balance between development and conservation. And we join other local organizations to advance our conservation mission, celebrate our strong communities, and tell more diverse stories of our region through our Relearning Highlands History series.
